We collect as little as we can. We don't sell or share your information.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, so it can deliver pages and block attacks. We don't use that to identify you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to learn which pages people read, so we know which guides are useful. It records the pages you visit, how you found us (for example, a search engine), your general area (city or region, not your address), and your device and browser type. It sets cookies so it can tell a new visit from a return visit. Google processes this for us. We don't see your name, and we don't use it to identify you.

What you type into our free tools is never sent to Google Analytics or to us.

To opt out, block cookies for this site in your browser, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

Email signup

If you sign up for the monthly email, we collect your email address and the date and form you used. Your address is stored by our email provider and used only to send the monthly email. You can unsubscribe any time with the link in every email or through the Contact Us page.

  • You choose. The consent box is never checked for you. Each form says what you'll get and how often. This follows Canada's anti-spam law (CASL).
  • You confirm. We send a confirmation email. Nothing more arrives until you click it.
  • You can leave. Every email has an unsubscribe link. It works right away, and you can use it any time.

We keep a record of your consent, as the law requires.

The contact form

The Contact Us form is processed by Web3Forms, which delivers your message to us by email.

Our free tools

Our free tools, such as the emergency card and the checklists, run in your browser. What you type stays on your device. Nothing you type is sent to us or saved. If you download or print a PDF, that copy is yours alone.

The contact form and email signup are different: they send what you enter, as described above.

Your rights

In the US. Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale. We don't sell personal information.

In Canada. Under PIPEDA, you can ask what we hold about you, correct it, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Privacy requests
